General Information
Q. How many hours can I work?

A. MarketLinc offers both full time (40 hours a week) and part time positions.

We require that every part time agent works a minimum of 16 hours a week. This is a best practice of ours as this amount of hours ensures that you are able to practice and grow the skills you learn in our comprehensive training. As the volumes on our projects are quite high on weekends we are always looking for the right people to work weekend shifts. Ask one of our recruiters about the special incentives that you can be eligible for by simply working weekends!
Q. How much revenue will I generate providing services for MarketLinc clients?

Your business' revenue is dependent on your commitment and performance. In 2009, the average hourly compensation was between $14-$17 per hour with our top reps exceeding $20 per hour.
Q. Do all Agents receive the same chat volume?

A. The highest performers will be distributed chats first. The volume of chats you receive will be based on your performance. This means our top performers are positioning themselves for maximum sales opportunities during their working hours.

A. MarketLinc represent the best technology and software brands in the world. "Chats" are pre-screened and are qualified buyers. We answer these chats and offer sales support, increasing the average order value of each sale through cross selling and upselling when the need is determined from your investigation with the customer.
Q. How often will I be paid?

You will be paid twice a month.
Q. Do you hire people from all locations in Canada and the United States?

Yes, as long as you live in an area that has a high speed internet connection.

    Q. What kind of telephone will I need?

    A. To handle calls effectively and efficiently and without interruption, you will need a telephone line, with a corded phone installed in your Home Office. Some agents choose to set up a dedicated phone line, to ensure other members of their household can access the regular line during their working hours. Stable, high quality phone connection. Standard landline service highly recommended.

VoIP only approved if high quality and stable, and may be required to obtain new provider if quality problems arise. Magic Jack and Skype are NOT allowed, due to known compatibility problems and quality issues.
    Q. Can I use my home telephone to place calls as a Remote Agent?

Yes, as long as you are prepared for the phone to be in use by you for your entire shift. Features such as call waiting will need to be disabled.
    Q. Do I need a long distance plan?

As all calls go through MarketLinc's systems a long distance plan will not be necessary. This also means that your name and number will never show up when you are calling a customer.
    Q. What are the internet connectivity requirements?

MarketLinc requires either a DSL or cable broadband connection. MarketLinc will not support a dial up connection. Stable high speed internet required, with consistent performance ratings(at least 1Mbit download, 0.25Mbit upload, PING below 300ms). Run test at www.speedtest.net, and click on the Saskatoon location. Cell or satellite internet not recommended.
    Q. Will I need a Tax Identification Number if I am an Independent Contractor?

    A. Independent Contractors residing in Canada are required to have a business number and a GST Number through the Federal Government.

Independent Contractors residing in the United Sates will either need a social security number (if your business is set up as a sole proprietorship) or an EIN (if your business is set up as a corporation, LLC, or partnership).
    Q. What is the difference between an Independent Contractor and working as an employee?

    A. An Independent Contractor is an individual that contracts with MarketLinc under an Independent Contractor agreement to receive chats from people requesting products from MarketLinc's clients. You will be considered self employed which means you can take full advantage of all tax benefits and there is more opportunity to increase your compensation based on how you perform.

A MarketLinc employee means that you will receive a base salary, benefits and the opportunity to earn commission. Both models offer competitive wages, however for those that are highly motivated being an Independent contractor offers more opportunity to make money.
    Q. What is the recruitment process in becoming a remote agent?

    A. MarketLinc will contact candidates whose resume contains the relevant skills and experience required for the position being applied for. Many applicants include a cover letter that briefly outlines how their previous experience may coincide with the description of the position.

A phone interview then typically will take place within two business days from when we receive and accept your resume. Please be sure to indicate the best time you can be reached for this important first step in our interview process.

It is also suggested that you quickly peruse our Web site ahead of the phone interview so that you are prepared with relevant questions regarding MarketLinc and the position in question. This time will also be used to confirm what hours you are most available for work with MarketLinc and what you will require if you are hired as a remote sales associate. Based on the outcome of the phone interview we will determine whether a follow-up conversation needs to take place before continuing through the remainder of the interview process.
    Q. What is the length of training?

The length of training varies depending on the project that you are contracting your services to. The training ranges in length from six days to ten days based on the complexity of the project. Training will include:

  • Initial Orientation:
  • a half day session dedicated to introducing our new colleagues to our entrepreneurial company, our unique culture, and how we use a customer centric approach to interact and sell like a consultant.

  • Sales Training:
  • as a new sales associate, you will learn all about MarketLinc's consultative approach to selling. This training includes basic theory, a specific sales approach that will be customized to your project, and real life recorded calls so you will know how each interaction should sound in an actual sales conversation. You will also receive personal coaching with your sales manager and participate in shared learning discussions with your team.

  • Project Training:
  • Unlike most product knowledge training, our sales associates learn all about the use of the products and services that we sell. This training is at an entirely different level than just understanding the features and benefits and helps ensure that customers engaged with receive the best sales experience possible.
    Q. What support will I have once I have completed training?

For every project we have a Sales Manager who will support and coach you. You will work with your Sales Manager to set targets and goals so your business can be as profitable as possible. We have a Resource Center that every agent has access to. In the Resource Center you will find best practice calls, FAQ's specific for each project, common documents that you will need, recorded training sessions etc.
    Q. Is there any fees associated with this work from home opportunity?
    A. At this time MarketLinc does not charge for its training. However it is up to each remote agent to provide the services such as a security clearance check, high speed internet and a dedicated land line to do this position.
    Q. Why does MarketLinc require a police clearance letter?

We require you to supply a "Police Clearance Letter", as you will be managing sensitive personal/credit information. This letter will be required prior to you being hired as an Independent Contractor as a means of establishing your security level. It's a simple, one - time process.
    Q. Will having a criminal record prevent me from working with MarketLinc?

    A. Not necessarily. Only convictions relevant to the nature of our business will result in disqualification. Applicants with the following elements on their check will not be accepted:
